for someone who spent about a month studying everything electronics and how to manage to get optimized performance with efficient material use for hours a day, I absolutely agree with handing ready to use plug and play components that are used on robots, as it takes a long time for a person who has no hardware experience to learn even how to properly select the proper items to use.

But absolutely it doesn't justify the huge sum of money, I prefer learning than just spending a whole month and half worth of family groceries on materials that I've also to think over to make something of.

I'm happy to help. I would start by asking the kids what everyday problems they would like to try to solve! The project will be much more exciting for them if it's personal. Make sure you clearly define the project constraints and that the fully understand them... then make sure they feel comfortable sharing "dumb" ideas because they may actually be great ideas, or spark other ideas.

Where did I lose you exactly? It’s an OLD video so I don’t have the info readily available but I’ll try to help you as much as possible. I am pretty sure I used 1mm = 1inch and I did it all In nominal sizes so a 2x4 was actually measuring 2x4.

Autonomous selection/other functions

Pretty much whatever you want! For VRC, you might have multiple auton's based on position or you may want to be able to select a different strat at the field just before the match.

@@MarkJohnston may I suggest you make a video on box point collision boxes? I made a cool vex library that allows for buttons anywhere any size. I think the repo was called v5 buttons

I’m really not that well-versed in C++, but I could probably do it. Have you tried just building it out in blocks and then click the code button and see what it looks like? If you understand the basics of C++, then that should give you a good start. It will probably need to be cleaned up quite a bit though.

@@MarkJohnston oh I didn’t know you could make block code into c++i will try this on Monday but I’m not very good at coding but I have a good understanding on block coding
